Claire Elise Boucher is a Canadian music producer and singer. Her early work is described as "lo-fi R&B to futuristic dance-pop",[4] with influences from hip-hop and electronic music, as well as rock. She frequently incorporates science fiction and feminist themes within her lyrics. Five albums have come out. Grimes was born in Vancouver and later moved to Montreal. The singer began her independent career in the latter part of the in the 2000s. In 2010 she debuted two albums through Arbutus Records, Geidi Primes (and Halfaxa), respectively. Following her contracting with 4AD, she rose in fame through Visions, her third studio album. Visions has two singles "Genesis", and "Oblivion" which earned them an award called the Juno Award in Canada for Electronic Album of the year. Art Angels, her fourth studio album, was released in 2015. Several publications called it the most successful album. Miss Anthropocene was her fifth studio album.
